At Bettridge we run an extensive programme of activites,
- Sports
- Creative Arts
- Study Support Club
- Inclusion events
Pupils in Secondary are able to attend a club which takes place after school each Tuesday and Thursday. The club is run by school staff and plans a programme of activities designed to extend the curriculum offered during the day in a way that particularly emphasises the importance of having fun and making choices.
A football club is also available to Secondary pupils.
All children have access to the Summer Playscheme run by the Friends of Bettridge during the summer break.
Current legislation requires that education provided during normal school hours is free of any compulsory charge. As part of curriculum provision pupils of all ages have the opportunity to take part in a wide range of visits during the school day. To facilitate this important aspect, parents may be asked for a voluntary contribution to assist in funding some visits when there is a cost over and above the transport costs in the school minibus.
Children may be offered a place on a residential visit, for which parents are charged the cost of the child’s board and lodging (Parents in receipt of Family Credit or Income Support are exempt). They may also be invited to make a voluntary contribution to other costs incurred. Some recent residential visits have included an adventure visit to Devon with archery, canoeing, climbing, abseiling and other outdoor pursuits, Youth Hostelling on the South Coast, a stay in the Forest of Dean and 3 days in Amsterdam.
While all classroom materials are free of charge, parents may be asked for a voluntary contribution towards cookery ingredients, drinks and snacks.
