Travel Plan

Our School Travel Plan Mission Statement

The Working Group has produced a mission statement that we believe reflects our overall travel plan aim:

To ensure that all those coming to and from the school site can do so safely while promoting a healthy environment for pupils and staff.

Head teacher endorsement:

Bettridge is committed to providing a safe environment for its pupils and to educating them in becoming healthy adults. The travel plan has been developed in consultation with all our stakeholders in order to take forward these outcomes by encouraging sustainable travel wherever possible and in particular addressing the needs of pedestrians and cyclists. The plan complements many other aspects of school life as recognised in our Healthy Schools Award and Sports/Active Mark Award.

Work on the Travel Plan coincides with a very exciting phase in the school’s development as our new building is constructed. This has been designed with many sustainable features such as green roofs and a biomass boiler and has a high BREAM rating. The opportunity provided by the re-organisation of the site will enable us to take forward the development of the external space in a similarly sustainable way.

Our thanks to the working group and members of the School council who have worked hard to collect everyone’s views and put this plan together. We fully support the promotion of a safe and healthy environment for all those travelling to and from our school. Hopefully it will help to ease the congestion around the school and maintain a better traffic flow.
