Student Voice

Children have a right to air their views on all matters affecting them, and we have a duty to listen and respond. Through the use of Total Communication we seek to give pupils the means to express their choices, opinions and ideas.

Initially pupils are encouraged to make choices about personal preferences. As they mature they are encouraged to make decisions about the school through the forum of our School Council.

Older pupils participate in their Annual Reviews and are involved in monitoring their own progress towards their targets. Some of our Key Stage 3 and 4 students represent Bettridge at Student Voice conferences to ensure that their concerns and ideas are heard by the wider community.

We want our pupils to grow into confident citizens who feel able not only to express their opinions but also to listen to and respect the opinions of others.
