Comenius Report

In early November the school hosted 3 European teachers from a school in France and a school in Germany.

This was under the Comenius project, funded by the European Union. Some pupils from Bettridge had visited Heinrich Böll Schule in Germany last May. Meetings took place at Bettridge to evaluate past Comenius activities, (eg. making a recipe book, selling Christmas cards, the Germany visit and communications between the 3 countries). Plans were made for current and future activities, including a visit by some German pupils and some Bettridge pupils to France in March 2012.

The pupils who visited Germany were delighted to have a Skype conference with pupils in Germany on the Monday morning, seeing them and talking to them in one of their classrooms.

At the weekend the visitors and some Bettridge staff visited Chipping Campden and Oxford, having a tour of the Oxford colleges. Each evening they dined at different restaurants, accompanied by different Bettridge staff. The visitors joined in a Secondary assembly and the German teachers presented the school with an interesting “toy” that will draw when used by a team of pupils.
