The Hub and Safe Space

We have a specially designated room called ‘The Hub’ to support pupils in learning about and managing their feelings and behaviour. Pupils learn ways to express their feelings in a safe environment, using music, individualised calming techniques. The room also includes our “Safe Space” which is a robust high-sided padded area to be used to teach pupils where is a safe place to take themselves in times of crisis to help them remain safe whilst they re-gain calm and ultimately support them to manage their own behaviour teaching them a better way.

The Atrium

The light and airy Atrium is used for lunchtimes and his home to the library. It can also be used for parties.

Hydrotherapy

The hydrotherapy pool has both lighting and music for the full sensory experience.

Community Room

The spacious and comfortable community room has tea and coffee facilities. It also has an interactive whiteboard with projector that can be used for larger groups. The room has two PCs which have not only internet access but allow parents /governors etc to access a range of resources on the school network. These resources range from symbols used to support Total Communication to information on syndromes.

The Computer Suite- Primary Department

Both departments have their own computer suites. Pupils can access the Internet and school resources, using programmes that support all areas of the curriculum and consolidating IT skills in discrete ICT lessons.
